An interactive large-scale light installation that transforms pixels from digital entities into tangible physical elements, exploring the materiality of computation and offering new perspectives in interactive design.
“Six-Forty by Four-Eighty” is an interactive light installation composed of a three-dimensional grid of physical pixels, each capable of changing color in response to human touch. These pixels are not just simple lights: they communicate with each other by using the human body as a conductor of information, creating an immersive experience that directly involves the viewer.
When an individual interacts with a pixel, it changes state and transmits information to the other pixels through bodily contact, generating patterns and animations that evolve in real time. This dynamic transforms the installation into a kind of “digital graffiti,” where each interaction contributes to a collective and continuously changing artwork.
Six-Forty by Four-Eighty invites viewers to reflect on the role of the human body as a mediator between technology and the environment, highlighting the importance of physical interaction in the digital age. The work stands as a significant example of how art and technology can converge to create unique and stimulating sensory experiences.
