“Meet the Metaorganism” is an interactive web application designed to make research on metaorganisms, complex systems composed of a host organism and the symbiotic microorganisms living in and on it, accessible, engaging, and visually stimulating.
The application explores three fundamental biological concepts: coevolution, microbial community dynamics, and the functioning of the immune system. Through interactive graphics and animations, users can gain a deeper understanding of the intricate interactions between hosts and microorganisms, discovering how they influence each other’s evolution and the overall health of the organism.
The project is the result of a close collaboration between scientists, designers, and educators, who combined their expertise and perspectives to create an innovative educational experience.
