Praeludium
EPFL Swiss Federal Institute of Technology
The project is an immersive installation aimed at making classical music more accessible and engaging for a wide audience. Each parameter is linked to a specific characteristic: timbre, texture, and sound level. This multisensory approach allows for a listening experience that can be adapted by both the mediator and the audience.
“Praeludium” is an immersive installation developed to make classical music more accessible and engaging. The experience is based on a 3D audio system and a series of luminous columns that translate sound characteristics into visual and tactile elements.
At the center of the installation, a mediator uses an interactive interface to modify parameters such as timbre, texture, and sound level, making each performance unique. Timbre is associated with colors, texture with geometric patterns, and sound level with spatialized audio. This multisensory approach enables an intuitive interaction with music, offering the audience a customizable and immersive experience.
The project goes beyond simple musical enjoyment, fostering a dialogue between listener, performer, and environment, transforming the concert into a dynamic and participatory experience. The ultimate goal of the project is to use the installation to bring new audiences, listeners, and artists closer to the world of classical music.
