Ocellus XR

The New School university

A mixed-reality application developed using geospatial data, allowing users to explore in augmented reality climate indicators such as heat and flood risks in New York City.

“Ocellus XR” is a mixed-reality application designed to provide an immersive experience in understanding urban climate risks. By integrating the USL data visualization platform, the app presents interactive geospatial information on climate indicators such as heat and flood risks in New York City.

The app allows users to explore 3D first-person visualizations of social, ecological, and technological data, projecting interactive maps and resilience interventions implemented on physical surfaces. Users can also experiment with augmented reality layers, visualizing proposed solutions such as green infrastructures and gaining a better understanding of who will benefit most from these interventions.

Ocellus XR represents a significant step in using technology to address urban climate challenges, offering an innovative tool for data visualization and the promotion of environmental justice. Through the immersive experience provided by the app, users can gain a deeper understanding of climate risks and available solutions, facilitating community engagement and resilient urban planning.
