Design&Conflicts

Libera Università di Bolzano

The project critically explores the pervasive integration of digital technologies in the fields of design, art, and visual culture, with a specific focus on AI and Neural Networks.

The project “Design&Conflicts: Toward a Critical Perspective of Artificial Intelligence” aims to critically investigate the impact of artificial intelligence and algorithmic technologies on contemporary design and cultural production. In a context where tools such as neural networks and automated systems are increasingly integrated into design, artistic, and communication practices, the project seeks to explore the ethical, social, and cultural implications of these transformations, moving beyond a purely technical or functional approach.

These technologies are now at the core of the global cultural ecosystem, deeply influencing what we see, hear, read, and consume. In addition to shaping our understanding, they actively contribute to the creation and circulation of cultural artifacts.

By examining both the visible and invisible consequences of these tools in design and artistic practices, the project aims to offer a deeper understanding of their impact—analyzing how such technologies affect not only creative processes but also visual languages and the ways in which forms of knowledge are constructed and communicated.
